Starter Motor, Commando Mk3

New more powerful replacement starter motor for the original Prestolite Starter on Norton Commando Mk3.

Features:

• Four brush, high driving torque motor
• Ball bearings for efficient, easy spinning
• O-ring sealed motor for gas and water exclusion
• Nine-tooth pinion provides a 15.78 gear reduction ratio for an 11% improvement in torque over the ten-tooth stock Prestolite with 14.2 gear reduction ratio
• Very noticeable, significant increase in cranking speed
• Net weight 2.16 kg, which is 0.9 kg lighter than the stock unit
• A bolt-on interchange. NO MODIFICATION REQUIRED!

Notes:

• This starter motor is best used with starter leads that are designed to take more power. We highly recommend changing your current starter cable to the heavy-duty 6 gauge cable (065909, 065910 and 065911)
• If your bike is as it came out of the factory, then that is great. But if you have fitted a Boyer ignition system, we have found electric starters draw too much current for the Boyer to work properly. We recommend changing back to a points system, or a digital electronic ignition system like a Tri-Spark electronic ignition system.
• If you have pre-existing problems or defects with your starter mechanism, a new starter motor will only make these issues more apparent.
